The body of a lawyer, who was kidnapped in August, was found dumped by a roadside yesterday and showed signs of torture.

Hamida Al-Hadi Al-Asfar was kidnapped on the outskirts of Tripoli in the Janzour district on the afternoon of 16 August. She was taken while leaving Janzour’s prosecutor’s office in a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and made her last call to relatives at around half past one on the day of her kidnapping. Her body showed signs of burns when it was received at the Tripoli Medical Centre mortuary.

Ongoing investigations into her abduction are yet to reveal the motives behind her kidnapping and subsequent killing.
