Libya Releases Russian Crew Member of Aircraft Detained in 2014

According to The Libya Observer‘s report:

The Office of the Attorney General released yesterday two Ukrainians who were among the crew of the cargo plane which was seized in Ghadames by Libya Dawn forces late last year. The cargo plane was seized on suspicion of carrying weapons to the mountain city of Zintan, but investigations showed it was carrying humanitarian supplies.”

A total of seven crew members of the plane, which was leased from the United Arab Emirates and reportedly carried humanitarian aid, was detained on November 14, 2014 after landing at Ghadames airport without permission.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Libyan authorities have released a Russian citizen and a Tajik national from a crew of a Ukrainian plane that had been detained in western Libya in November 2014, Xinhua reported on Wednesday.

Xinhua cited an anonymous source from Libya’s attorney general’s office as saying that investigations have proved the crew members “were not involved in any hostile acts or movement affecting Libya’s security.”

A total of seven crew members of the plane, which was leased from the United Arab Emirates and reportedly carried humanitarian aid, was detained on November 14, 2014 after landing at Ghadames airport without permission.

Four of the crew members were released in December.
