Taking Action for Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim

Immediately following Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim’s death sentence, numerous individuals and organizations mobilized to prevent his execution.

Some news agencies are misinformed about the circumstances of this case and as a result, are creating confusion about what actions are appropriate and necessary.

Our sole objective is to save Ahmed’s life.

Dr. Ibrahim did not have legal representation in court and was denied the right to speak in his own defense. Libya has not followed appropriate judicial procedures in any case related to political prisoners and we have no reason to believe that this execution would be delayed pending ratification by the Supreme Court.

While we await an official statement from Dr. Ibrahim’s lawyer, I encourage activists to read the following letters of protest and consider attaching them to any statement they might wish to submit on behalf of Dr. Ibrahim:
