Dr. Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi’s lawyer, Pierre-Olivier Sur, appealed to French President Hollande, asking him to intervene so that his client does not meet the same fate as Sadam Hussein. He is also taking his complaint to the Special Rapporteur on Torture and the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHCR) because his client has been tortured.
Dr. Baghdadi Al Mahmoudi is scheduled to stand trial in August along with other members of the former legitimate government of Libya.
In February, Tunisian lawyer Mabrouk Kourchid, reported that “Al Mahmoudi is in critical condition as a result of the torture he has suffered…he could die.”
