UNSC Calls For Libya To Release ICC Staff

UN Security Council called Libya’s immediate release of four officials of the International Criminal Court on charges of smuggling and seized documents to Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, a detainee in the city of Alzentan southwest of Tripoli.

He urged the press statement issued by members of the Security Council according to the site surrounding the Libyan authorities at all levels to make urgent efforts for the release of the staff of the criminal court.

The Security Council expressed deep concern over the detention of the four staff of the International Tribunal.

The statement pointed out that Resolution No. 1970, issued by the Security Council in February 2011 obliged Libya in cooperation with the International Criminal Court in full and provide the necessary support of the international investigation into crimes committed in the country since the start of the uprising against the regime of ousted Muammar Gaddafi in February of last year.
